Grand cyprus drive, Pearl Valley

Project Brief

The main aspect of the brief was to develop a spacious family home capturing the magnificent views of the Simonsig mountain range and untouched wetlands.

A sweeping driveway from the street to this grand countryside home signals the start of one’s journey.

Entering the space, one encounters an elegant, sweeping staircase housed in a double-volume space. The mesmerizing Simonsig mountain range is framed beyond a tranquil external courtyard.

A large, open-plan living space and big kitchen open onto the dining area and lounge. Abundant outdoor terraces connect the inside living areas to outdoor spaces, which include a summer and winter outdoor living area.

A separate formal lounge connected to the double-volume entrance by means of a glass conservatory-like space becomes a secluded sanctuary surrounded by established planting that screens it off from the main building and gives one the opportunity to break away from everyday living.

The guest suite is removed from the main building and guests can enjoy their own privacy by using a separate entrance.

The spacious first level houses two en-suite bedrooms with a generous, grand master suite and en-suite leading onto an external courtyard. Terraces to the master suite and street-facing bedrooms make the most of the wetland and mountain views.

An open-air service yard on the ground floor connects the garages and tack room.

Keeping the strict estate guidelines and site restrictions in mind, we have created a building that invites you on a journey and unveils itself as you explore its magical courtyards and spaces.
